  • New Residence

    I have a regular blog.

I'm not sure why I don't feel xanga can be that for me... but I don't

I'll still get on here and I'll share things, but I think xanga will be more like my "public appeal" blog. One that anyone could read. It seems that's what it as become, though not many people read it. ha.

So for more of a journal/life update I will be blogging here: http://isahuntsman.blogspot.com/

  • Communicating missingly

One thing that bothers me continually in life is miscommunication. Currently as I speak I am frustrated over a certain miscommunication between my boss and me.

The more I think about it the more communication sends a message of confusion to my brain.

I've heard it said that everyone views the world differently, because everyone has experienced different things in their life whether it is their environment, culture, family life, tragic events etc. When it comes to communication everyone understands words differently according to how they perceive life. And though we put definitions to words we can never assume that the person on the other end of the communication perceives the words as you may mean them in the context of your brain.

Which leaves me wondering, how can anyone truly communicate complete clear message to anyone other than self? Yes people may understand the basic concept of what you are trying to share with them, but no one can completely understand the message that you developed in your own dusty brain.

Makes me feel so much more appreciative of the mind reading super power. I guess in the context of the power to read minds is to completely understand what that person is saying from their viewpoint because it's from their mind. I don't think any movie, comic, book could ever truly show that aspect of mind reading.

Whatever the case, I'm glad that God is omniscient. At least I can be confident that my prayers aren't misread through the screen of perception. Glad He knows me better than I know myself!

  • If Jesus Had A Church

If you're looking for a church that suits you, you can find it. Mega church, small church, conservative church, liberal church, traditional church, modern church; whatever you want it's out there.

The options are many. Take your pick.

We all know that some churches just seem to be more popular than others. What exactly the formula to make your church HUGE I don't know. I don't want to argue whether or not those large churches are wrong or right. I just want to pose one question:

What if Jesus pastored a modern-day church?

I wonder what that church would be like. How big would it be? Would Jesus be a popular minister? If we look in the Gospels, we will find Jesus wasn't exactly a popular person among the religious elite. How would he be accepted today among those who claim to be his followers?

How many websites would there be just dedicated to talking smack about Jesus and what he preaches? Jesus preached some very straightforward messages. Would people walk out of his church service offended? Would members of his church decide that they were not getting "fed" enough from their pastor?

What kind of people would we find in Jesus' church? If you recall Jesus was surrounded by the scum and lowly of his day: prostitutes, tax-collectors, and fishermen to name a few. He accepted them as they were, but none of them continued in their sin. Would the music be loud and rocky or quiet and subdued? What would be the "dress-code".

I am not all knowing and I cannot put some formula together that will prove what Jesus' church would be like in modern day. But I have some suspicions that it may be far from what many define church as today. What do you think?
